Turmeric doesn't start out as powder. It starts as a root, pulled straight from the soil, still carrying the smell of earth.

Everything we do after that is just to get it from the ground into your kitchen — without losing what made it good in the first place.

How It's Made

The turmeric is harvested by hand once the rhizomes have matured fully in the ground. Pulling it too early means weaker color and flavor, so we let it take its time.

Once harvested, the roots are washed to clear off the soil, then boiled briefly. This step isn't about cooking it — it softens the root and helps bring out its natural color evenly, the way it's been done in Kerala kitchens for generations.

After boiling, the turmeric is laid out to dry in the sun. No industrial dryers, no forced heat. Just open air and time, until the roots turn hard and brittle.

Once fully dried, it's ground into powder. That's the last step. No additives, no fillers, no coloring agents to make it look brighter than it is.

What you get is turmeric that looks and smells exactly like what came out of the ground — nothing added to dress it up.

Why the Color Isn't Always the Same

You may notice the shade of your turmeric powder shifts slightly from batch to batch — sometimes deeper orange, sometimes more golden.

That's the soil and the season talking, not inconsistency. Turmeric grown at different times of year, in different conditions, carries a different depth of color and aroma naturally. We don't correct for it. A powder that looks identical every single time is usually a sign that something's been added to make it that way.

Why We Keep It Simple

Turmeric has been part of Kerala households for longer than anyone can trace — in the kitchen, ground fresh or dried, without needing a factory to explain it.

We're not trying to improve on that. We're just trying not to get in the way of it. Dig it up, wash it, dry it, grind it. That's the whole process, start to finish.

Pure. Traceable. From our farm to your home.
